Oaxaca is a lovely colonial city - much more attractive than I expected. It has a spacious leafy main square or 'zocalo' where the locals hang out. An impressive cathedral stands in the centre while cafes, ice cream parlours and shops border its edges. As it's often too hot to walk around in the day I find myself drawn to the square just to people watch.
