Teotihuacán, Mexico

The ancient city of Teotihuacan is the most visited of Mexico’s archaeological sites and is only an hour away from Mexico City. The site is impressive for its scale, both in the size of the 'Piramide del Sol' (Pyramid of the Sun) which is the third largest pyramid in the world and the Calle de los Muertos (Avenue of the Dead) - originally 4km long and flanked by temples, palaces and platforms.

The Pyramid of the Sun is the tallest of the two major pyramids, and its a breathless but quick climb. Unfortunately you can only climb to the first level of the Pyramid of the Moon but even that has the best views of the site overlooking the Calle de los Muertos.
