Gregory National Park, Australia

We drive nearly 700 kilometres today, briefly stopping at Edith Falls and Katherine Hot Springs. The landscape is largely uninspiring until we reach Gregory National Park. The three-kilometre Escarpment Walk reveals panoramic views of the gorge and forested valleys. The sandstone mesas remind me of the Venezuelan tepuys. The Kapok trees with their vivid yellow flowers and the spiky orange-flowered Woollybutts add colour to the already dramatic views.
