Skydiving, Lake Taupo, New Zealand

Beedo gives me all the instructions again but I've suddenly gone deaf and can't hear a word, although I nod enthusiastically. He tells me to sit on his lap as we slide towards the plane door. All I can remember is the banana shape.

As soon as the door opens I've lost my memory and I'm free falling through the sky. The air pressure is immense, and it's so cold my ears feel at bursting point. The freefall from 15,000 feet lasts 60 seconds but it feels like an age as I twist and fall like a dead weight through the air. 'Look at the camera' Beedo yells. I give the thumbs up but this isn't how I feel. I feel out of control.
