West Coast, New Zealand

I arrive into Nelson in the middle of the afternoon. It's still raining heavily and overcast so I decide visiting the Japanese Garden wouldn't be much fun. Nelson is the jumping off point for forays, either walking or kayaking, into Abel Tasman National Park. Almost everyone is staying a couple of days but the weather is grim so I feel it'll be a repeat of the Bay of Islands. I've seen photos of Abel Tasman walks through lush rainforest, beautiful coves and turquoise waters, but it doesn't look that enticing in the rain.
