Rotorua, New Zealand

My bus driver to Rotorua doesn't stop talking. At the end of every sentence she says 'primo' or 'sweet as'. I've heard other kiwis say the latter in the same way Brits say 'great' or 'fab' but I've never heard 'primo'. Makes me laugh.

It rains all the way to Rotorua. I suppose greenness comes at a price. The two-hour drive passes through farmland and neat rolling countryside.

Rotorua, which means 'two lakes' in Maori, is much more modern than I expected. A small town with wide roads and low buildings it borders a large lake. I've signed up for a Maori Cultural show tonight but I'm not feeling well so I end up spending the evening at the doctors.
