Lost World, Waitomo, New Zealand

It's my first 'activity' in New Zealand and the photo on the flier shows a tiny person abseiling from a great height into a Jurassic Park-style environment, a bit like the landscape near Angel Falls, Venezuela. http://www.waitomo.co.nz/

The four of us signed up are driven to a small shack outside town to put on our gear and harnesses. We're led into the nearby woods and walk on to a platform suspended 100 metres (335 feet) over a river, which looks like a trickle from this height. I'm told it's the highest commercial free hang abseil in the world.
