Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, New Zealand

South of Rotorua, on the way to Lake Taupo we stop off at Wai-O-Tapu ('Home of Sacred Waters') Thermal Wonderland, probably the most famous of New Zealand's thermal areas.

It takes 1.5 hours to walk all three trails passing through incredible steaming lakes and geysers, including the multihued Champagne Pool and Artist's Palette, bubbling mud pools and the Lady Knox Geyser. It's pretty impressive.
